At the end of Wonderland , although Sung-joon's identity is not very clear, it is obvious that he is a living person, as he is seen talking to Hae-ri. This suggests that there is technology that allows a living person to virtually enter Wonderland, but nothing is said about it.
Sung-joon is probably Bai Li's lover in her real life, as there seems to be a long connection between them, which she clearly does not remember, but the expression on Sung-joon's face gives it away.
At the end of Wonderland , this is also probably the reason why Hae-ri wants to talk to the man when Bai Li's mother demands that her program be terminated. Thus, it seems that Sung-joon was so devastated and troubled by the loss of his beloved that his only way to overcome his grief was to enter the virtual world himself.
At the end of Wonderland , Hae-ri and Hyeon-soo also sell the Wonderland program to a happy-go-lucky man named Yong-sik, who is unusually eager to accept his death as a new beginning. But when Hyeon-soo examines the man's data, he finds pictures of his own mother and wonders if Yong-sik might actually be his father.
Hyeon-soo has never met his biological father, as he and his younger brother were raised alone by their mother, and so he tries to look into the matter further. It is only at the very end, in a short scene in the credits, that Hyeon-soo manages to get his mother to converse with the digital Yong-sik via video call.
At the end of Wonderland , this conversation quickly confirms that the two were once lovers, meaning that Yong-sik may very well be Hyeon-soo's biological father. Thus, Wonderland ends on a happy note, since technology now makes it possible to reunite estranged families, almost magically.
